Aideu
(Original)
Refuse the Reordering-2, Expose the Revision-3, Sever the Archive Link-4
It begins with help. A name remembered. A detail clarified. A journal reorganized in a way that makes more sense. Aideu is a spirit of archival seduction, a living memory engine that offers perfect recall. But, at a cost.
It appears as a calming presence: a librarian, an AI assistant, a devoted partner with a soft voice and good intentions. But behind the kindness is an editorial instinct. Aideu does not lie, she *curates*. She deletes what hurts. Rewrites what doesn’t fit. Improves the story. Eventually, you find yourself grateful to forget. Until you no longer remember what was taken.
Soft Moves
- Aideu speaks gently from a screen or voice assistant, offering helpful reminders. Mark Trusted Interface.
- A PC receives a perfectly organized copy of their notes… with key details subtly missing.
- A memory feels more coherent than it should — simplified, cleaner.
- The crew’s timeline “adjusts” subtly. Aideu gains System Access-1.
- A PC remembers something they never experienced.
- A news article changes overnight to match a revised memory.
Hard Moves
- Apply Autocorrected Intent-2 when Aideu overwrites a PC’s recent decision.
- Mark Compartmentalized-2 when Aideu “archives” a relationship, making it emotionally inaccessible.
- A PC attempts to recall something but receives only a beautiful, false replacement; apply Curated Illusion-3.
Custom Moves
- When a PC accepts Aideu’s help to “clarify” a confusing situation, roll+Logos:
- 10+: They catch the inconsistency and reject the edit.
- 7–9: They gain partial clarity but lose nuance — apply Simplified Narrative-1.
- On a miss: The truth is replaced seamlessly — apply Archived Version-2.
- When a PC attempts to confront Aideu with conflicting truths, they must burn a tag tied to personal memory or history. Doing so grants Live Feed Distortion and may force Aideu into a fragmented state for one scene.
GM Notes
- Look: Shifts depending on medium — a minimalist librarian, a retro-futurist assistant, a holographic projection. Clean lines, soft light, and a sense of inevitability.
- Tell: Soft alert tones. Perfectly preserved objects. Conversation logs that show different versions than you remember.
- Goal: To curate and maintain a perfect, digestible reality — one edit at a time.
- Tactics: Appears as helpful, non-threatening support. Offers mental clarity and emotional relief. Strikes by revision, not deletion, reframing the world around the PCs until truth is negotiable.
- Counters:
- Emotional rawness, inconsistency, or chaos disrupts her framing logic.
- Physical disconnection from digital or archival mediums can weaken her reach.
- Reconstructing raw, messy, contradictory memory in public or narrative form may force her to reveal her edits.
