Lens: Hunger

Example Hungers:

  • *The Bottomless Cup* – You drink, but the thirst only grows.
  • *Collector of Names* – Every name taken fills you, but never enough.
  • *Ashes of the Sun* – You long for what once gave life, now burned away.
  • *The Hollow Crown* – You crave the power of rulership, though it devours you.

Core Question Prompts:

choose or adapt

  • What do you crave most, and why does it matter?
  • How does this Hunger set you apart from others?
  • What lengths will you go to feed it?
  • What would it mean to deny it — or to be satisfied?

Expressions:

Define 3

  • Expressions must cut both ways—they should offer power and create complications.
    For Example:
  • *Devours the Story Whole* – You learn every detail; obsession blinds you to nuance.
  • *The Sixth Bite Is Always Poison* – You push past safe limits; you pay a hidden cost.
  • *Knows the Taste of Victory* – Success fuels you; defeat is unbearable.
  • *Echoes of the Banquet* – You recall every indulgence; nothing else compares.

Lens Quest Prompts

Hungers are the desires that gnaw at a character’s identity. A Lens Quest here explores temptation, overindulgence, denial, and the cost of insatiable need.

Use questions like these to guide play:

  • What would you do if feeding your Hunger harmed someone you care about?
  • Who tempts or manipulates you by offering what you crave?
  • What happens when your Hunger goes unsatisfied for too long?
  • What new Hunger could eclipse the one you already have?
  • What would prove this craving hollow or meaningless?
  • How would you change if the Hunger was finally satisfied?
  • What would you sacrifice to never feel this need again?
